I am so disgusted.

The crime in and of itself is disgusting.
The church's stance is even more disgusting, because they think they are being just.
Organized religion scares me.

School has started up again and I attended my first seminar of 2009. It was pretty much immunology (aka, what I don't work on), but part of it was really cool. The speaker's goal is to create cancer vaccines (awesome!) and so they are doing the nitty-gritty research. They were trying to find a a way to distribute the vaccine to a large area of skin to induce the best response. What procedure did they decide to use?
Tattooing!!
So awesome. They tattooed the vaccine onto the test mice compared to injecting the vaccine into the thigh and found that it induced a much better immune response! Those mice have total street cred now.
Apparently astrology is wrong. Well, we all knew that. But they recalculated the dates and here's the new list:

Aries - Apr 18 to May 13

Oh and Ophiuchus is the "snake-holder." *Snicker*

II was looking at Orion on my walk home and easily found his belt and the torso stars, which are all readily seen in Chicago as well. But out here in Iowa, I saw something new. Three smaller stars forming a short line perpendicular to the belt. And I thought "holy shit, Orion's wang!"
Thanks for hiding this little gem, Chicago light pollution. So I googled that shit when I got home. Wiki says "Apparently descending from the 'belt' is a smaller line of three stars (one of which is in fact not a star but the Orion Nebula), known as the hunter's 'sword'."
To that, I say whatever, Orion is totally skyclad and wanging his wang for all the world to see.
As I say pretty much every year, I'm gonna start using this again. If anything, it gives me something check besides my email and facebook.
For probably the first time since puberty, my resolution this year is not "DIET". Instead, I'm going to love my body. I'm going to find something good about it every day instead of focusing on the jelly. But I also am going to try to get healthier..just in a positive way. Let's see how long I can keep that up.
Oh, and
Yesterday at the pet store, I saw puggles and cockapoos. I think they figure out what would be cute names, then breed the appropriate dogs rather than the other way around.
Dear Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,
REALLY?????????????????????
No, that's unacceptable. UNACCEPTABLE.
Love, Cindy
This is where I'm going to live for the next 5 or 6 years starting in August. Yes, I'm nervous, and worried I will only have cornstalks to be friends with. But I am also excited to start working towards something rather than working on something. I'm hoping a little direction goes a long way.
So on my commute to work after reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I was stuck at a train and let my mind wander for 15 minutes or so and stumbled upon the subject of making Sirius/Remus shipping canon. I can't help it, I love the puppies. Anyway, my half-assed reasoning is behing the cut.
Rob and I saw Transformers yesterday. The theater was filled with Autobots:
Anyway, the movie. The writing was godawful, though Shia the Beef did have quite a realistic scream at one point. And why oh why did Bumblebee have to pee on that dude?? Lame to max! However, if you could handle the ridiculous dialogue and superflous characters, the effects were awesome. There was only 1 point in the movie that I thought 'that is definitely CGI'. The graphics were almost seamless. So all in all it was pretty and worth the 7 bucks. Rob hated it, but it still had to be better than Live Free or Die Hard.
